About NCP
The North Crawford Playhouse is a student oriented theater program within the North Crawford High School District. The Playhouse puts on two productions each year; the fall musical occurs each November, and the spring play occurs each March. The program receives no district funding, relying instead on the sale of tickets and the generous contributions of community supporters. Without the support of our patrons and volunteers and the dedication of our student actors, designers, and technicians, we would never be able to create the quality theatre we know and love at North Crawford Playhouse. Thank you for all of your support.
Playhouse Sound System Project Partially Funded - Winter 2026
The North Crawford Excellence in Education Foundation announced winter 2026 grant cycle awards for projects in the North Crawford School District. The North Crawford Playhouse is thrilled to announce that the foundation has awarded funds to cover a portion of the cost of replacing the aging and failing sound system in the theatre. Current audio systems consist of the ceiling-mounted speakers installed when the school facility was constructed in the early 1990s alongside larger audio playback speakers which are on a long-term loan from Mr. Brandon Bankes.
The new sound system is being developed with the best available technology and is designed to enable greater access to groups using the space, increased audio quality, and improved intelligibility. Thank you to the foundation and to our donors for making this project happen!

Electrical Upgrades and New Stage Floor - 2025
What a marvelously productive year it has been! Summer 2025 brought a bevy of renovations in the theatre. First and foremost, replacement of the aging stage floor and supporting structure was accomplished through the painstaking efforts of our incredible team of volunteers! Thank you to Rob Ghormley, Camille Smith, John Powell, volunteers from the LDS church, and Mr. Bankes for spending several weeks on this huge project! The new stage floor is silent, solid, and superbly level.
In addition, funds provided by the North Crawford Excellence in Education Fund paved the way to completion of the lighting system improvements, including installation of a new electrical service panel and the addition of lighting over the "house" (seating area) for improved control and comfort during programs and performances. Finally, several upgrades to the new costume loft were completed, including lighting improvements, air-conditioning vents, and steel railings on the stairway.

Funding Allocated for Technical Systems & Costume Storage - 2024
NCP is delighted to announce a significant investment in the arts at North Crawford by means of an allocation of referendum funding. The North Crawford School Board voted unanimously to contribute funding to the replacement of the theatre lighting system and construction of a costume storage and workspace for the theatre. The lighting system will be upgraded to energy-efficient LED technology and state-of-the-art control systems. A permanent costume storage and work room will be constructed above the backstage area to safely store the thousands of garments accessories featured on the stage. These exciting developments have been years in the making!
This funding will complete the minimum requirements of the projects, but more is needed to ensure these systems are built to last and truly meet the needs of students in our programs. If the North Crawford Playhouse has had a positive impact on your life, if you are a community member who values the arts, or if you simply believe that students should have access to outstanding educational opportunity, please consider donating to this vital project. Your contribution will help ensure the Playhouse has a future at North Crawford. Thank you for your kind generosity.
